Summary
- The application does not contain advertising or analytics.
- An account is not required. Core use does not require Google services or an internet connection.
- Accounts, categories, and transactions remain on the device unless you enable optional Google Drive backup.
- Local and Drive backups are unencrypted JSON files. Anyone with access to a file can read its contents.
- PIN and biometric lock hide the application interface. They do not encrypt the on-device database.
Scope of the product
Moniko is an expense manager. It does not provide banking, payments, wallets, lending, trading, or cryptocurrency services. Kynfo does not operate a server that stores your transactions.
Data stored on the device
The application stores on the device:
- Accounts, categories, and transactions, including items in Trash until permanently deleted
- Application settings, such as appearance, reminder time, and backup preferences
- A PIN verifier if lock is enabled (the PIN is not stored in plaintext)
- Local JSON backup files, retained for seven days
Uninstalling Moniko removes this on-device data. Android Auto Backup is not used. Files you export or copy to Google Drive remain in those locations until you delete them.
Data collected by Kynfo
Kynfo does not operate a Moniko backend and does not collect, sell, or analyse your transactions. This website consists of static files. It does not set cookies and does not load analytics scripts.
Optional Google Drive backup
Google sign-in is optional and is used only to copy local JSON backup
files to a folder named Moniko/backups/ on your Google Drive.
The application requests Google’s drive.file scope and can
manage only files it has created.
- If you do not sign in, the application does not use the network for backup.
- While signed in and online, successful local snapshots are uploaded. If you are offline, uploads are queued and completed when the application is online and unlocked.
- Drive copies older than seven days are removed, consistent with local retention.
- Signing out stops further uploads and does not delete files already stored on Drive.
- Backup files are readable JSON and should be treated as confidential financial records.
Google processes sign-in and Drive under Google’s privacy policy. Kynfo does not receive a copy of your Drive files on a Kynfo server.
Android permissions
- Internet and network state — optional Drive backup after sign-in.
- Biometric — optional, if lock and biometrics are enabled.
- Notifications — optional daily reminder to record transactions.
- Boot completed — to reschedule that reminder after a device restart.
Moniko does not use advertising ID, location, contacts, camera, or microphone.
App lock
PIN lock is optional and off by default. Biometrics may be enabled in addition to a PIN. When enabled, the application locks on launch and after approximately 45 seconds in the background. Backup, CSV, and Drive actions are unavailable while locked. This is not database or device encryption.
Children
Moniko is not directed at children under 13. It is intended as a personal expense manager for older teens and adults.
Your choices
- Use the application entirely offline, without a Google account.
- Decline Drive sign-in, notifications, and lock.
- Delete data in the application or uninstall it.
- Delete Drive backups from Google Drive if you created them.
Because Kynfo does not retain your transactions on a server, there is no remotely stored copy for us to retrieve or erase, other than files you have exported or placed on your own Drive.
This website
This site provides product information and this policy. It is hosted on Firebase Hosting. Hosting logs may be processed by Google as described in Google’s privacy policy. Kynfo does not run analytics on this site.
Changes
If this policy is updated, the effective date above will change. Continued use of the application after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
